[Wednesday, February 22, 2012] Abdul Khan takes home over £14k in the £150 Deepstack!

Friday 17th February saw the first of the new 2 day 150 Deepstacks, which took the same structure as the monthly 500 Deepstack. On Day 1a there were 150 entries plus 28 re-entries, with almost 20% of the field making use of the new +1 re-entry system. By the end of Day 1a just 21 players remained, Sean Pierrepont holding a significant chip lead of 340,000 with Grand Prix finalist Leon Iacono still in the running, as was our past Grand Prix winner Tommy Bingham. A staggering 237 players joined us for Day 1b and 58 of those took advantage of the +1 re-entry, as re-entry has never been available to Day 1b players before. This pushed the prize pool up to an incredible £70,950, with 1st place set to take home over £20,000 should no deals be made. 65 players made it through to Day 2 with David Hide taking the Day 1b chip lead of 200K – some way behind the near £400k of Pierrepont.

[Tuesday, February 21, 2012] World Record Attempt

The main goal for this Guinness World Record attempt is to raise as much money for the Help for Heroes charity as possible. There will be 6 participants lined up to break the record. A continuous poker cash game will run starting 21st Feb 2012 at Duffs Card Room Reading with the aim on finishing on the 26th Feb 2012. Players are permitted a 5 minute break every hour. Unused breaks can be banked up to an hour every 12. Players must continue playing for the 5 days duration to break the current record held by Phil Laak of 115 hours straight at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. The more support, advertising and sponsorship we receive the greater chance of success. If you think you can help in any way then please do. Remember this is all for the Help for Heroes charity.

Season 8 of the European Poker Tour will culminate April 23 to May 1, 2012 at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Casino with the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final, PokerStars announced today. After attending the 'Maiden' Genting Poker Series leg at the Genting Club Star City Birmingham, part of a seven legged tour, I was definitely impressed with the organisation and running of this latest Poker Tour to launch in the UK. The 430 buy in has great value and with over three hundred players and even though the GPS have guaranteed 800k for the tour, the prize will no doubt exceed the Million as this tour will grow and attract the biggest fields in the UK. Looking forward to Leg 2 in the Fox Poker Club, London from 28th March till 1st March and hope to go deeper this time around.
